I met Kumar in October 2006 at my Cursillo weekend. We sat at the same table and became friends. As we shared experiences around the table it was easy to see that Kumar was a very spiritual and humble man. What I didn't know until the last day was that Kumar was really Father Kumar, the pastor of St. Ann's in Elgin, Oklahoma! He was living his Cursillo weekend just as one of us. What wonderful discussions we had and what a blessed weekend for all of us.

He became part of our family over the next few years and even co-officiated at our daughter's wedding in June of 2007. He spoke often of the children in India and their many needs. The stories were so moving that we knew that God would find a way for my family to help. Father's full name is Maria Joseph "Kumar" (meaning "son" in the Indian language) Udagandla. We thought—how wonderful to be blessed with the name of the Holy Family. Through the prayers of God's Holy Family and the guidance of the Holy Spirit a dream was formed and plans began. Father Kumar would be going back to India and the children would become our focus through the work of Father Kumar and Holy Family Blessings Organization.

As Mary reminds us in Luke 1:49, we also find our prayers reflecting on how; the Mighty One has done great things for us and holy is his name.
